EpiScreen

What is EpiScreen?

EpiScreen is a high throughput screen (HTS)/high content screen (HCS) for the identification of growth factors using DNA methylation as non-transient surrogate marker for cellular differentiation.

Growth factors are important for the proliferation and differentiation of cells. In the body, they accelerate or trigger reconstitution of failing or damaged tissues. In culture, they drive differentiation of cells in the “right” direction. They have been recognized as an important class of drugs (e.g., erythropoietin or interferons). EpiScreen can be used to identify such growth factors either from small molecule or protein libraries.

How is EpiScreen implemented?

The screening platform can be established on-site or Epiontis can perform screens for the customer.

For the development of EpiScreen the following steps are necessary:

  1. Marker discovery
  2. Marker validation
  3. Setting-up final protocols for fast and early detection of cell differentiation.
  4. Establishment of platform at the site

The entire process takes between 10-18 months including the establishment of the high throughput assay platform. Screening is then performed by the partner.
