Tissue Samples (fresh frozen)

A minimum DNA input per sample is needed to ensure epigenetic assay measurements that meet all QC criteria and conform to standard precision. For fresh frozen tissue samples, DNA yield shows significant variation due to tissue type (cell size, overall tissue compactness) and storage conditions. We therefore recommend assessing the typical DNA yield of specific samples by performing a pilot-study with at least 3 donors. We then assess the probability of success and suggest then eeded amount of frozen tissue to be sent for the study.

Alternatively, DNA isolations from your samples can be performed in your laboratory setting. The DNA input guide provides standard DNA input amounts for all available epigenetic assays. If no pilot-study is performed, providing at least 25 mg of frozen tissue per sample usually results in measurements that meet all QC criteria.
